An elderly expatriate who falsified identity documents to pose as a stateless, or ‘bidoon’, resident and gain access to pension and social benefits reserved for Bahrain-born individuals has lost his court appeal.
Last month, the 73-year-old was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of altering a birth certificate and using it to obtain a CPR number and a Bahraini work card, which allowed him to get a job .
