A proposal to rename Al Sayah as Busaiteen District has sparked a heated war of words at Muharraq Municipal Council, with councillors clashing over whether the change would restore a fading identity or erase a piece of local heritage.
Busaiteen and Al Sayah councillor Mohammed Al Mahmood wants Al Sayah renamed Busaiteen District, arguing that the historic name of Busaiteen is gradually disappearing from everyday use as younger generations become more familiar with Al Sayah .
