The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) is filing a formal protest to the Gulf Football Federation regarding the involvement of Qatar’s Assim Madibo in their 27th Gulf Cup clash against Bahrain on Thursday night, which the Qataris won 2-0.
This has been confirmed to the GDN by an official from the BFA.
Madibo received a straight red card in Qatar’s 0-6 loss to Canada in the Fifa World Cup 2026 last June. That resulted in a five-match ban handed to Madibo by Fifa’s disciplinary committee.
The Gulf Cup is Qatar's first tournament since the Fifa World Cup, and Madibo's suspension should be enforced in the competition, the BFA official told the GDN.
