FOOTBALL – Britain’s culture minister Lisa Nandy yesterday backed Uefa’s decision to boycott the World Cup and other Fifa competitions in protest at plans to allow outside investors to buy stakes in a subsidiary that would run global soccer tournaments.
“This is a principled decision that we strongly support,” Nandy said in a statement.
“Football belongs to the fans, not billionaire investors. Enough is enough. It’s time to take a stand to protect our game.”
