FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN will learn of their preliminary round group in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 on May 9.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced yesterday the new date for the event’s official draw, which was originally scheduled to take place on April 11 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It was postponed due to the unfortunate events that have been taking place in the region.
With 23 of the 24 participating senior men’s national teams already confirmed, the draw of the 19th edition will see Asia’s elite divided into six groups of four, mapping out the thrilling battles ahead of the eagerly anticipated spectacle, which will be held in Saudi for the first time from January 7 to February 5 next year.
The final spot will be determined on June 4 between Lebanon and Yemen.
Further details regarding the official start time will be released via the AFC’s channels in due course, the AFC said.
Bahrain will be playing in the AFC event for the eighth time, including for the seventh straight edition.
