Former England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has delivered an uplifting message to the young boys and girls of Tekkers Football Academy Bahrain amidst the unfortunate events that are taking place in the kingdom.
Speaking in a video published yesterday on Tekkers’s official social media page @tekkers_bahrain, Gerrard encouraged the aspiring young footballers to keep working hard, keep practising, and keep enjoying their football while they remain away from the pitch.
Tekkers have been running tutorials online with their coaches performing home challenges that the players can follow to remain active.
These include on-the-ball drills featuring various techniques to improve timing, touch, control, and overall skill, as well as workouts to maintain physical fitness during this period.

“I just wanted to give you all a little short video message – I’m keeping my eye on all the social media, everyone connected with Tekkers – the staff and the coaches are doing an incredible job, but more importantly, all the boys and girls are OK,” Gerrard said.
“I’m sure it’s frustrating at the moment, not being able to train and play with all your friends, but I’ve got my eye on social media and I’ve been really impressed with all the skills, all the challenges that are being set.
“So, keep up the good work – I’m sure you’ll be back on the grass in no time.
“Just wanted to send you some love and support, I hope to see you all very soon. Take care of yourselves, love to all the families, and all the very best.”
Gerrard is a major supporter of football in Bahrain, especially with the youth, having been involved with a number of academies and programmes in the kingdom in recent years.
He was the manager of Saudi Pro League Club Al Ettifaq from 2023 to 2025.
