CYCLING – MAHDI Hassan Jawad powered to the victory in the men’s national team riders category in round two of this season’s national road racing series, organised and run by the Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA).
The 22-kilometre night event was held in Sakhir under the patronage of BCA president Shaikh Dr Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
Alongside the men’s national team riders division, the other classes in the race were for amateur men, amateur women, and junior riders aged 17 and younger.
Joining Jawad on his category’s podium were runner-up Hamdan Alkowari and third-placer Amer Saleh Ahmed.
In the amateur men’s class, Taha Sayed Alawi claimed the victory, while Sayed Ahmed Khalil was second and Saad Talal Alsaadi third.
Fatima Hussain clinched first place in the amateur women’s category ahead of Sofia Zuhair Al Oraibi in second and Lulwa Tariq Aldosari was third.
Issa Saleh Ahmed completed the list of winners, taking the juniors triumph. Khalifa Ahmed Zaman was the runner-up while Jad Mohammed Zuhair completed the top three. Following the race, Shaikh Dr Khalid was on hand to present the winners their respective prizes.
Round three of the campaign is scheduled for tonight in Sakhir.
