TABLE TENNIS – BAHRAIN’S senior men’s table tennis national team suffered a tough 0-3 loss to Chinese Taipei yesterday in their opening Group C clash of the men’s teams’ competition at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The kingdom’s paddlers put in a valiant effort but were dealt three-game defeats in each of their matches played at Sky Hall Toyota.
Rashed Sanad first lost to Hsien-chia Hsu 0-3 (6-11, 9-11, 4-11) and then Mohammed Alaali fell to Yun-ju Lin 0-3 (3-11, 4-11, 1-11). Sayed Mahfoodh then bowed to Guan-hong Kuo 0-3 (5-11, 7-11, 6-11) to complete Chinese Taipei’s sweep.
The Bahrainis are back in action today against Nepal in their concluding Group C assignment. It is scheduled for a 6.30am start, Bahrain time.
