CYCLING – Team Bahrain Victorious rider Antonio Tiberi secured a top 10 finish yesterday in the GP Industria and Artigianato in Italy.
The one-day elite men’s road race featured a route of 196.5 kilometres, which Tiberi completed in sixth place.
The Italian was part of the trailing group that was 12 seconds behind winner Tom Pidcock of Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, who came home in four hours 33 minutes and eight seconds.
Dutchman Max van der Meulen was 53rd and Croatian Fran Miholjevic 70th as Bahrain Victorious’ other finishers in the race.
Meanwhile, elsewhere yesterday, Bahrain Victorious Development Team rider Thomas Capra climbed the podium as runner-up on the fourth and final stage of the 62nd Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia, also held in Italy.
The rising Italian was part of a large bunch sprint to the finish, led by stage winner Cameron Rogers of Netcompany Ineos Racing Academy, who took first place after 163.8km in 3:28:37.
Capra’s compatriot and teammate Leonardo Consolidani ended the race as the squad’s top-ranked competitor on the general classification in seventh, while also placing fourth in the best young rider rankings.
