CYCLING – Bahraini rider Ahmed Naser has been called up to compete with Bahrain Victorious Development Team in the Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy, to be held from today until Sunday.
The elite men’s road race is set to feature competitors from around the world, representing international professional cycling teams.
Naser is joined on his squad by Italians Santiago Basso, Thomas Capra, Leonardo Consolidani, and Giacomo Rosato, and Belgian Leander de Gendt.
The event will cover a total distance of 635.9km, with today’s opening leg being held across 166km.
Naser’s participation is part of his preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, later this month.
He will be going for gold in men’s road cycling, where he will compete in both the road race and the individual time trial.
