Both evacuation flights with hantavirus patients have left Cape Verde and are headed for the Netherlands, a Dutch foreign ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.
All passengers remaining aboard a luxury cruise ship hit by a deadly hantavirus outbreak are asymptomatic and non-Spanish citizens will be repatriated to their countries after the ship arrives in Tenerife in the Canary Islands from Cape Verde, Spanish Health Minister Monica Garcia said on Wednesday.
The non-Spanish passengers will not be required to quarantine in Spain, with the decision being up to their home countries, Garcia told a news briefing. She added the 14 Spaniards will be transferred by plane to a hospital in Madrid to quarantine.
