FOOTBALL – MATCHWEEK 17 of the 2025-26 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League kicks off tonight with the first of three successive evenings of exciting action.
Games are to be played at the National Stadium in Riffa and at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town. They are to be held with no fans in attendance.
This evening, Al Shabab take on Al Najma at the National Stadium while A’ali face off with Bahrain Club at Khalifa Sports City Stadium. Both contests are scheduled for 7pm kick-offs.
Tomorrow, defending champions Muharraq go up against Sitra at Khalifa Sports City Stadium at 5.15pm, to be followed at 7.30pm by Budaiya battling Hidd at the National Stadium.
On Saturday, table-toppers Al Khaldiya and Riffa lock horns in a titanic clash between two title contenders at the National Stadium, scheduled for 5.15pm. At Khalifa Sports City Stadium, Al Ahli take on Malkiya at 7.30pm. Heading into this round, Khaldiya lead Muharraq by two points on the standings and are five ahead of Riffa.
In the league’s top scorer rankings, Muharraq’s Edimar Ribeiro da Costa Junior is number one with 12 goals to his name. Khaldiya’s DR Congo professional Joel Beya Tumuteka and Ahli’s Abdulla Al Hashash follow tied on nine goals apiece.
Following matchweek 17, the next two weeks of games are scheduled to take place from April 16 to 18 and from April 27 to 29, respectively.
